When Greene County plays high school football tomorrow night in Red Oak, the numbers will decidedly be in favor of the Rams. Games are decided by the play on the field, however. Greene County head coach Caden Duncan is aware of Red Oak’s struggles and sees the task before he and his coaching staff as making sure the Rams get better. He feels if that happens at Red Oak, so will a victory.
The Tigers have lost 16 games in a row dating back to the 2018 season, including all four this season. They’ve been outscored 181-20 in the COVID-19 shortened season. The Rams have a 2-2 record this season and are coming off back-to-back 8-1 regular season records and a pair of Class 2A playoff berths, including a trip to the quarterfinals last year. This edition of the Rams scores an average of 24 points while giving up 21 points a game. RO is being out scored on average this season by a 45-5 tally.
The Rams have just seven seniors on the roster, but that’s a big number compared to Red Oak’s two. The Tigers have only six juniors while the rest of their 31 player roster is freshmen and sophomores.
Friday’s game can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. Coverage begins at 6 p.m. with kickoff at 7 o’clock.
