West Central Valley students will now receive free breakfast and lunch thanks to an extension of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Summer Food Service Program.
The USDA has issued waivers for all Iowa school districts to extend the SFSP funding through December 31st of this year or when funding from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act runs out. The program will begin on Monday September 28th, and when the program ends each student’s account will return to their original lunch status and be charged accordingly. A la carte items and extra servings will still have to be purchased at their normal price. Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center and Panorama previously announced their involvement in this program.
