The Dallas County Secondary Roads Department is wrapping up their final road projects to prepare for winter maintenance.

Dallas County Engineer Al Miller tells Raccoon Valley Radio they recently stocked up on 2,000 tons of road salt and are shifting their equipment from construction-mode to winter road maintenance-mode. “Gradually over the next month or so, we’ll get up to full-speed as having all of our trucks ready to plow, having underbodies on, and spinners and everything so we can get our full fleet out to deal with winter when it actually gets here. With the weather forecast, I’m hoping that construction season and maintenance work is going to continue here into November and wait until December for the actual snowfall.”

Miller adds the only major project on their to-do list is a road-widening project on County Road R-16 north of Dallas Center, which they hope to have completed by the end of the month. You can hear more from Miller on Tuesday’s Perry Fareway Let’s Talk Dallas County program on KDLS and RaccoonValleyRadio.com.
