Election Day is tomorrow, and so that means today is the final day to vote early in-person.
The Greene County Courthouse is open for early voting today, and Greene County Deputy Auditor Billie Hoskins says anyone who still has an absentee ballot that needs to be submitted, can do so either by dropping it off at the County Auditor’s office, at the dropbox on the east side of the courthouse, or mail it in. However, the ballot must be postmarked by today and received to the auditor’s office by Monday, November 9th for the ballot to count.
Hoskins notes there’s still time for people to register to vote.
“You can still come to the auditor’s office. If you’re wanting to absentee vote, you can register at that time, and then you can absentee vote all at once. You can still register to vote on Election Day, if you so choose, and vote on Election Day also.”
Hoskins says they have already surpassed the number of absentee votes compared to the previous presidential election in 2016. As of Thursday, there were 3,462 early ballots already cast, compared to 1,979 in 2016.
Hoskins reminds everyone that tomorrow, there will be a reduced number of polling locations due to COVID-19 concerns. All three Jefferson precincts are to vote at the former Greene County Middle School gym. The north precinct will be at the Churdan Community Center. The east precinct will be voting at the St. Parish Center in Grand Junction. The west precinct will be at the Scranton Community Center. The central precinct will vote at Clover Hall on the Greene County Fairgrounds. Polls will be open from 7am-9pm.
