Stuart residents should be aware of parking restrictions now that the City’s snow ordinance is in effect.
The ordinance lasting from November 1st to April 1st states that during all periods of snowfall no person shall park, abandon, or leave unattended any vehicle on any public street, alley, or City owned off-street parking area. Any area in Stuart that’s posted no parking from 2-6 a.m. in areas of Northwest 2nd, Northeast 2nd, North Division, and South Division streets will be enforced and vehicles may be towed away at the owner’s expense. Property owners are also reminded to remove snow, ice, and accumulations promptly from sidewalks. If they are not removed within 48 hours the City may do so and assess the costs against the property owner.
In the City of Guthrie Center, their code states that when snow accumulates at least two inches and/or ice covers the entire street surface, the City will implement an emergency parking ban. Vehicles left on a residential street, alley, or City-owned off-street parking area may be towed, fined, or both. The City also requires property owners to remove snow or ice promptly from sidewalks with failure to do so resulting in the City removing the accumulations and assessing the costs against the owner.
The City of Panora asks that no vehicles are left on a public street, alley, or City-owned off-street parking area until said road is plowed or 48 hours after snowfall has ceased. Parking is allowed on the west side of North 1st Street between Main and Market streets anytime during a snow event. If property owners don’t remove or treat snow or ice from sidewalks within 24 hours after an event, the City may do so or hire a private contractor and assess the costs against the owner.
