The unofficial results of the 2020 general election are in for Dallas County.

The County’s two contested races leaned towards Republican incumbents. Mark Hanson beat Democratic challenger Larry Lyon by 13% for Board of Supervisor District 2. Republican incumbent Julia Helm beat out Democratic challenger Michael Kern by 23% for County Auditor. For State Senator District 10, Republican incumbent Jake Chapman received the most votes from all reported counties with 24,469 while Democrat Warren Varley received 14,663. For the open Iowa House District 19 seat, Republican Carter Nordman had the most votes with 14,703 and Democrat Nick Miller had 7,843.

With all the counties reported for U.S. Representative District 3, Democrat incumbent Cindy Axne received more votes with 218,968 versus Republican David Young with 212,727. President Donald Trump won Dallas County and Iowa, as did Republican incumbent for U.S. Senate Joni Ernst.

Dallas County’s results are unofficial until a canvassing by the Board of Supervisors at their November 10th meeting.
