With possible snow in the forecast, motorists should prepare for slick roads.
According to the National Weather Service, rain is expected throughout the day Tuesday, with that precipitation possibly turning into snow as temperatures drop below freezing this evening. While little to no snow or ice accumulation is expected, Perry Police Chief Eric Vaughn recommends when roads are slick to take some time before you leave your home to ensure your car is ready to go, “The best thing (you) can do is make sure your car is warmed up. Make sure your windows are scraped clear. I’ve already seen a couple of instances of that already this year, people driving when they don’t have a clear field of view in their windshield. When you see that snow, take a little bit more time, don’t get in such a hurry. Try to leave a little bit earlier than you usually do. Especially when that snow starts to get packed down, especially on the blacktop, you get that black ice where you really can’t see that it’s slick. Again, you get a little bit overconfident about your speed or how you’re driving. Just take a little extra time and slow down.”
