The Greene County High School football season ended with seven wins and three losses, but two of the three teams that beat the Rams this season have advanced to the semifinal round of the playoffs. South Central Calhoun (Lake City) in Class 1A and the 2A team that knocked the Rams out in the round of 16 in the postseason, PCM (Monroe), are still going. Both play later this week inside the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls.
Caden Duncan, head coach of the Rams, talked with Raccoon Valley Radio about that. “Yeah, two of our three losses this year are to teams in the Dome and actually four of our five losses the last two seasons were to teams that made it to at least the semifinals. I think that’s indicative of the caliber of team that it’s taken to beat us the past couple years. Our goal is to be one of those teams and we think we’re building towards that.”
Atlantic was the other team that hung a loss on the Rams this season and the Trojans won 2A District 9 and made it to the round of 16 in the playoffs. Class 2A State Champion OABCIG (Ida Grove) and Algona, a 2A semifinalist, were the teams that beat the Rams in 2019.
