Paton-Churdan begins official practice today for the high school boys’ basketball season. The girls began practice last week. Bud Fagen coaches the P-C boys and both the boys and girls teams open the season on Dec. 1 in Westside vs. Rolling Hills Activities Conference rival Ar-We-Va.

Joe Carey is a junior on the P-C boys’ team and he talked about the upcoming season. “I think we’ll do pretty good. We have a lot of speed, but don’t have a lot of size. We can run it and have a lot of speed, so we just  need to use that to our advantage.”

He was asked about the homecourt advantage the Rockets seem to have playing in the cozy confines in Churdan. “I love playing in our gym! It’s a little bit smaller, so it feels a little bit more homey, I think. The fans are always great! There’s always a whole bunch of people that come and support us.”
