The Iowa High School Athletic Association released wrestling Sectional and District pairings for Feb. 2021 on Nov. 20. The sport is one of the few where postseason opponents are known before the regular season begins. Greene County will go to Woodward on Feb. 6 for a Class 2A Sectional with Woodward-Granger, Perry, ADM, Van Meter-Earlham, and Gilbert. A Feb. 13 District in Adel with combine the Woodward sectional with one held at Knoxville, and the district determines State Tournament qualifiers.

Greene County head coach Zach Beekman talked with Raccoon Valley Radio about knowing who they’ll face in the postseason. “I don’t really look at it too much. We know that as we prepare for our season whether in practice or during a competition, we’re preparing ourselves for the sectional tournament, the district tournament. It’s kind of nice to know because it answers the question of where we’re going to be, and we’ll face a number of those teams during the course of the regular season. That being said, in the midst of Covid, you don’t really know what meets you’ll end up with, and which ones you won’t. In this years’ case, it may not make much of a difference in the long run anyway.”

The Rams weren’t allowed to start practice until Nov. 25 due to the school district being on 100% virtual learning through Nov. 24. Because of starting practice nine days later than most teams, the Rams have had the start of the regular season pushed back to Dec. 10 in Adel vs. ADM and Gilbert.
