An annual fundraiser for a non-profit organization in Greene County has made changes to how their event will look this year.

Heart of Iowa Habitat for Humanity Executive Director Jeff Lamoureux tells Raccoon Valley Radio the Greene County Habitat Board decided to not have the Nativity Festival fundraiser, due to COVID-19 concerns. Instead, they are designating Sunday, December 13th as “Habitat Day.” Lamoureux explains how people can support their organization.

“We’ve partnered with some local congregations, through the local Greene County Clergy Association and asked them to take a special collection on Sunday. If they’re so inclined to make a donation here to help us out, it’s helping out those folks in need that have critical home repairs or in need of decent housing.”

Lamoureux adds, if you can’t make a donation on Sunday, you can still make one to their organization by going online to their website, heartofiowahabitat.org or mail it to the Habitat office in Jefferson at 114 South Chestnut Street.
