Paton-Churdan lost twice on Tuesday night in a Rolling Valley Activities Conference girl/boy basketball doubleheader at Exira/Elk Horn-Kimballton. The girls’ final was 69-31 and the Spartans won 59-42 in the boys’ game.
Danielle Hoyle had 15 points for P-C and was the only Rocket to reach double figures in points. P-C trailed 30-19 at halftime, then the home team ran up 39 second half points to just 12 for P-C.
The boys’ game saw the Spartans lead 32-25 at intermission, then win the second half by a 27-17 tally to pull away. P-C had just four points in the fourth quarter. Connor Brus led the Rockets with nine points, followed by Riley Cullum with eight, Forest Thompson seven, and Joe Carey six. Carey had five rebounds and five steals, while Bradyn Smith had three points, eight rebounds, six assists, and two steals.
The Rockets host Coon Rapids-Bayard in Churdan in a Friday night girl/boy doubleheader.
