Saturday saw another wrestling cancellation and the postponement of basketball games for the Greene County Rams. Those are becoming the norm instead of the exception in this COVID-19 era of high school sports. Add in winter weather and the challenges become even greater.
Coach Zach Beekman’s wrestlers have not had a single competition this season. They were to have gone to the Ogden dual meet tournament Saturday, but that was cancelled. In a normal year the Rams would have more dates of competition completed by now with as many as 15 matches for some individuals, but as of today there have been zero matches with the Dec. 19 Tiger-Knight Invitational at Carroll High on Dec. 19 the only thing left on the wrestling schedule in December.
The basketball teams were to have gone to Perry on Saturday, but those games were postponed again. Originally scheduled for Dec. 1, they were moved to Dec. 12 and now are set for Thursday, Jan. 21 in Perry.
Greene County has basketball on the schedule for Tuesday, Dec. 15 in State Center vs. West Marshall on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. The girls play at 6 p.m. with the boys to follow.
