A Jefferson man faces a felony charge from an alleged theft incident.

According to court documents, 37-year-old Brandon Kious is charged with a Class D Felony for second-degree theft. The charge stems from an investigation by the Jefferson Police Department that began on September 27th. A caller reported that Kious was staying at one of her relative’s residences in the 1200 block of Rushridge Drive, and that items were taken from two different safes in the home.

During the investigation, officers found one safe had been damaged and the other had the correct combination used to gain entry. An estimated total of $2,144 in cash and jewelry was stolen. Officers later found the items at a pawn shop in Ames. A search warrant was executed on November 28th and the items were seized from the business, which paid Kious $400 to purchase the items from him.

An arrest warrant was issued and Kious was arrested Tuesday by a Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy. He was booked and later released from the Greene County Jail under his own recognizance. Additional charges are pending against Kious for other burglary incidents in Greene County. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
