The Greene County Rams have played five varsity boys’ basketball games, and they’ve lost all five. Head Coach Chris Nelson has not yet had what he thought his starting lineup to start the season would be. Injuries and COVID-19 concerns have caused the Rams to be short at least one starter every game, with as many as three not being available at one time. Plus, some of the reserves have missed time as well.
Senior Zach Goff, plus juniors Max Riley and Bryce Stalder are the only Rams to have started all five contests, while sophomore Richard Daugherty missed the first game and has started the last four. Sophomore Jesse Miller and junior Jackson Morton have each played in only one game. Junior Caden Telleen has started three times and sophomore Brayden Roberts has one start.
The coach is hoping he’ll have a healthy team starting Dec. 28 when practices resume following the break for the holidays. The first game of 2021 for the Rams is in Jefferson on Tuesday, Jan. 5 vs. Webster City. That’s a girl/boy doubleheader that can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
