Jackson Morton may be looking forward to Jan. 5 more than any other Greene County basketball player. That’s when the Rams resume the season with Webster City in Jefferson at the brand new Greene County High School. Morton may have more reason than other Rams to look forward to getting back on the court. The All-State football player broke a collar bone in week nine and missed the start of basketball because of the injury. He made it back on Dec. 15 vs. West Marshall in State Center, then sprained an ankle less than four minutes into his season. Although he returned later that night, he missed the final game of December vs. Grinnell, so Morton has played less than one game during the Rams’ 0-5 start to the season.
On sitting out with injuries, he told Raccoon Valley Radio, “It’s been pretty hard watching us in football vs. PCM in the playoff game against one of the best teams in the playoffs, but I thought we did pretty well. Watching basketball hasn’t been easy either, but I should be ready to go for our next game.”
The Jan. 5 action vs. Webster City is a girl/boy doubleheader and both contests can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
