
Tuesday, January 19th
3:43am: A deputy investigated a domestic in the 500 block of East Main Street, Grand Junction.
4:46am: A deputy investigated a single vehicle accident on 220th Street near E Avenue. Benjamin Ellingson 36 of Jefferson lost control of a 2007 Ford Supercrew on a patch of ice and entered the ditch hitting a fence. The estimated damage to the truck was around 8000 dollars. The estimated damage to the fence was around 150 dollars.
1:40pm: A deputy, Scranton Fire Department, Jefferson Fire Department, and the Iowa State Patrol responded to a single vehicle accident on 220th Street and E Avenue. Derik Gonyier 28 of Clinton was driving a 2000 Peterbilt tractor and trailer and lost control on a patch of ice. The semi and trailer were blocking 220 th Street and leaking diesel fuel from a punctured tank. The tanks were emptied into barrels. The Iowa State Patrol covered the accident.
2:07pm: A deputy investigated a single vehicle accident on 220th Street near Eaton Avenue. The vehicle was undamaged and the driver had left the scene. It appeared that the driver hit a patch of ice and built-up slush and snow and lost control.
7:38 pm a deputy responded to a two-vehicle accident in the 1000 block of D Avenue. Bob Martin 50 of Stratford was towing a vehicle out of the ditch with his emergency lights running and cable across the roadway hooked up to a vehicle that was in the ditch. Erich Palait 55 of Scranton was driving a 2017 Honda Civic struck the cable causing severe damage to the car. The van that was being towed belonged to Brandon Turner 33 of Scranton. Due a Deputy Sheriff’s personal vehicle being involved the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office investigated the accident.
Wednesday, January 20th
4:41am: A deputy attempted to stop a vehicle heading north out of Jefferson at 80 mph. The vehicle continued North on N Avenue reaching speeds over 130 mph. The deputy discontinued the chase near 370th Street and N Avenue in Webster County. The deputy was advised by a Webster County Roads plow that the vehicle was in the ditch about mile north on Baxter Avenue and 360 th Street. Two Greene County Deputies responded to the accident and found the vehicle had rolled several times in the ditch and was occupied by 3 juveniles. Calhoun County EMS, Farnhamville Fire, and the Webster County Sheriff’s Office responded to the accident. All three occupants of the vehicle were taken by ambulance with injuries to the Fort Dodge Hospital. The ages were 16 to 17 years old. The vehicle owner Ashlee Agan 29 of Boone stated that they did have permission to have the car. The 2001 Honda Accord was totaled in the accident. Webster County Sheriff’s Office covered the accident. Suspected marijuana was found. The possible charges are as follows- Felony Eluding, operating a motor vehicle without owners’ consent, speed, reckless driving, possession of a controlled substance, and failure to obey traffic signals. All charges will be forwarded to the Juvenile court officer.
3:43pm: A deputy assisted with a medical call in the 700 block of East Main Street, Grand Junction.
6:58pm: A deputy investigated a car partially in the ditch on U Avenue near 150th Street. Josie Rivera 25 of Harcourt was arrest for operating while intoxicated 2nd offense, 2 counts of Child Endangerment, and failure to maintain control.
7:11pm: A deputy investigated a civil issue in the 500 block of 3rd Street, Rippey.
11:57pm: A deputy investigated a domestic in the 700 block of East Main Street, Grand Junction.
Thursday, January 20th
1:33am: Josie Rivera 25 of Harcourt was booked into the jail for operating while intoxicated 2nd offense, 2 counts of Child Endangerment, and failure to maintain control.
In all cases when a defendant has been charged, this is merely an accusation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
