The West Central Valley School Board accepted it’s fiscal year 20 Audit report presented at last night’s board meeting.

Alex Barr of Anderson, Larkin and Company Professional Corporation presented the report to the board and noted the company awarded its highest opinion possible on district audits. The District’s revenue and expenditures both went up from the previous year, but the change in net was a surplus of over $1.7 million.

The Board approved two new hires and an adjustment to athletics coaches: John Wheeler for middle school track; Ethan Calvert for middle school baseball and Nathan Craig moved from middle school baseball to high school assistant baseball coach.

Activities Director David Doely discussed purchasing a new scorer’s table for the high school gymnasium. He noted that the current table is over 7 years old and got a quote for a new one from the same company for a longer table at $4,000. The district would not have to make a down payment on the table using the same payment structure from the last agreement, which featured advertisement revenue going toward the cost.

Technology Coordinator Kevin Keech provided his report to the board. Seven devices out of 700 needed to be repaired in the first semester, and each device was fixed through insurance or warranty, requiring no additional cost to the school district. They also discussed new classes being added in Microsoft Office and Adobe Premiere Software.

Next, the Board approved Open Enrollment for two new students, entering at the third- and fourth-grade levels, while two others transferred out at the fourth- and 10th-grade.

Finally, Co-Superintendent Rusty Shockley and Anthony Lohse discussed the 2021-22 Academic Calendar, the number of hours required and allotted and if enough snow days were built in to accommodate a large snow event.
