The Stuart Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for LewisPlace, LLC on Friday.
Owner Katelyn Bovinett says she started working with custom apparel and home decor because she wanted to find a way to use her creativity. While she was making items from home, she decided to start the business to help people in the community. She explains what inspired the name of the business.
“Lewis is the first initial of each one of my children: Lydia, Ezekiel, Willow, Isla and Sheldon – it’s our place – and it’s all smushed together into one word because I really don’t have any personal space. They’re always with me; they’re a part of my story, and they’re going to be in the store. We’re here and this is our place.”
There’s apparel in the store for people to purchase, but Bovinett says she hopes people utilize her other main service.
“Most of it is going to be for custom things for people to come in, so I can help them get out there what’s important to them and help them share their own stories.”
