The Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center National Honor Society chapter served over 450 free-will donation meals during its fundraiser for Tori’s Angels Tuesday night in honor of Panorama freshman Liberty Ashworth.

Vehicles line up behind Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center High School to pick up spaghetti dinners from the AC/GC National Honor Society’s fundraiser Tuesday night. All proceeds from the event will go to Tori’s Angels in Panora in honor of Panorama freshman Liberty Ashworth.

AC/GC Senior Ali McDermott says she’s hopeful the number is even greater, but it’ll take the chapter a while to figure out exactly how much they raised.

“We were hoping to have 600 people tonight, and we think we got super close to that number. We’re thankful for everyone who came out and helped us get this event going. It’s such a blessing. We couldn’t have done it without everyone’s support. We have an amazing community around here. We just wish her the best and we’re here to help her along as well.”

Senior Audrey Stone announced to the crowd at halftime of the girls’ basketball game that the event’s honoree couldn’t be in attendance as her condition required emergency surgery, but was in good spirits following the procedure. She then read a part of her letter to the Panorama freshman saying that Ashworth is a warrior.

Advisor Amy Ruhland says her 18 NHS students came up with this idea weeks ago.

“We talked about being the good and what that means, and I just threw it out there ‘ What do you like to do?’ And one of the students mentioned Liberty over in Panora. From there, the idea just grew and we decided to contact Bill Ridgley and decided this would be a good thing to do. We thought that West Central Valley would be a good way to incorporate that part of the county also. It just ended up working perfectly. And it’s our Senior Night, so we hoped to have a good crowd.”
