The Greene County Supervisors unanimously approved to extend the county-wide mask mandate at their January 11th meeting to March 31st.

Greene County Public Health Director Becky Wolf says the Greene County Board of Health, as well as public health and health care providers supported the decision by the Supervisors to extend the mandate to the end of March.

“When you’re in the midst of the pandemic and you see your numbers going down, and you had a mask mandate established a few weeks before your numbers started going down, this is not the time to stop doing what you’re doing. Because the mask mandate is helping to really keep that 14-day positivity rate down.”

Greene County Attorney Thomas Laehn says the county mask mandate currently is not enforceable because the governor’s public health emergency proclamation remains in place. However, he talks about how it could be enforced in the future.

“If her (Reynolds) proclamation were to fully expire on March 7th, our mandate would remain in effect until March 31st, as currently written. The Supervisors could elect to add penalties if they wished for those who violate the mandate.”

The county-wide mask mandate has been in place since November 12th. Click the link below to review the county’s mask mandate.
