Greene County Public Health is continuing to work its way through the priority list of individuals to receive the COVID-19 vaccinations.
Public Health Director Becky Wolf says the county is receiving about 100 doses of the vaccine on a weekly basis. The first round of vaccines is anticipated to be completed by the end of this week at Greene County and Paton-Churdan school districts. Wolf points out once they are done with school staff, they will turn their attention to individuals who are 65 and older that have signed up to receive the first vaccine dose. Wolf reminds everyone they are still working through the different priority groups.
“We prioritize population groups and that allows us to number one: we work through as many at-risk groups in an equitable manner because that’s only fair. We’re also able to keep our critical infrastructures going like our schools, and our businesses, and our economy.”
Wolf notes they have collaborated with community providers to help administer the COVID-19 vaccines. Jefferson Hy-Vee Pharmacy has received their first shipment of vaccines and are accepting appointments, and Medicap Pharmacy will also accept sign-ups for their waiting list when they receive their first shipments. Other providers include Greene County Family Medicine Clinic, McFarland Clinic and Greene County Medical Center Occupational Health.
Wolf encourages anyone who is 65 and older and hasn’t signed up to receive the vaccine, can do so by calling, emailing or registering online. All contact information can be found below.
