A Greene County business recently won a state-wide contest.

Iowa Cover Crop and owners Bill Frederick and James Holz won the Iowa Farm Bureau Grow Your Future Award. The award recognizes young agriculture entrepreneurs that are under 35 with a chance to grow their business. Iowa Cover Crop helps farmers utilize cover crops such as rye and oats to keep the soil healthy and protect water quality, along with providing other benefits for row crops. 

The initial rounds of the contest were based on online voting, with the top three finishers winning cash prizes. Frederick tells Raccoon Valley Radio they won $7,500 and have committed to a polar plunge in their pond later this year.
