New Dallas County Emergency Management Coordinator A.J. Seely
With the extremely cold temperatures continuing, it may be difficult to keep pipes in your home from freezing.
Dallas County Emergency Management Coordinator A.J. Seely says there are things you can do to prevent the pipes in your home from freezing.
“To kind of avoid that potential for freezing pipes is you can let faucets drip. So just keep a little bit of water running through those at all times for the really cold period. You can open your cabinet. So if a sink in the kitchen perhaps is prone to freezing you can open the cabinet below it so that air flow from the room can help to circulate into that cabinet and keep it warm.”
Seely notes that you can insulate the pipes themselves. While Seely says that isn’t a quick fix it can help prepare those pipes for future cold weather.
