The West Central Valley Girls’ basketball team begins postseason play this afternoon.
The 9-12 Wildcats will travel to Interstate 35 High School and face the 3-16 Roadrunners in the Class 2A Region 5 tournament. Junior Madi Jaeger scored 27 points in the teams’ last meeting December 8, a contest West Central Valley lost 55-50.
But, head coach Dan Druivenga says that was the third game of the season and feels like a long time ago. He adds the Wildcats are still developing chemistry while learning his new system. His keys to a win today over a familiar foe include strong defense, boxing out and crashing the boards.
The opening tip will be 3 p.m. The winner will face the 15-6 Avoca, Hancock, Shelby, Tennant and Walnut Vikings Tuesday.
