The girls’ basketball season at Paton-Churdan ended on Friday night with a 60-53 loss in Anita to CAM in a Class 1A Region 2 semifinal. The Cougars won the season series between Rolling Valley Activities Conference opponents two games to one with the home team winning each game.

Coach Tom Kennedy’s Rockets end the season with a 16-6 record. The wins are the most in more than a decade for the Rockets and the five seniors contributed greatly to the success of the program. Danielle Hoyle, Tessa Steimel, Chloe Berns, Karissa Stevenson, and Hannah Bundt, are the seniors on the team, an unusually large numbers for a school the size of Paton-Churdan. Hoyle earned third team All-State honors after the 15-win season of 2019-20, and after averaging 23 points per game and shooting nearly 70% from the field, she’ll likely garner postseason accolades again.

Coach Kennedy told Raccoon Valley Radio he’s really enjoyed coaching this group, but with junior Carmyn Paup the only starter who isn’t a senior, the Rockets will have a different look next season.
