With last year’s absence of the Bell Tower Festival in Jefferson, one committee is determined to put the event on this year.

Jefferson Matters: A Main Street and Chamber Community Events Team Chair Philip Heisterkamp says they have three different plans in place in case the pandemic impacts how the festival will look this year. He points out all three plans include live music, food and beverages. Heisterkamp describes the unique way they began planning for the festival.

“We literally threw everything up on the board, everything we thought we knew about the festival. And then started peeling back aspects that we knew needed to be a part of the best festival experience and then left room for new things to come in as well. (I’m) Thankful we have a really good team to work that process through.”

Heisterkamp welcomes anyone who wants to join them in the planning process.

“(We’re) Always looking for more people, especially people with highly creative minds and people who are highly skilled with their hands. Because it seems like we’re always needing people to construct or build things just to enhance the ‘downtown walk around’ experience. But then yeah, we always need ideas.”

The Mission Impossible 2.0-themed festival is slated for June 11th and 12th. Contact the Welcome Center at 515-386-2155 or Heisterkamp at Greater Life Chiropractic in Jefferson to learn more or be a volunteer.
