The Iowa AAU Youth State Wrestling Tournament was held Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. Raccoon Valley Radio is aware of two place winners from Greene County.

Winning the A Division 3rd-4th grades) 58 lbs. State title was Greene County fourth grader Johnathan Thompson, who wrestles for Sebolt Wrestling Academy located in Jefferson. Thompson was a 12-2 major decision winner over Esai Koethe of Big Game Wrestling Club in the championship match.

Brent Dennhardt is a multiple past Youth State Champion. Also a Sebolt Academy wrestler from rural Rippey, Dennhardt, an eighth grader in the Greene County school district, placed fifth in the C Division (7th-8th grades) at 110 lbs.
