The Panora City Council approved the City’s next fiscal year budget.

The Council held a public hearing at their meeting on Monday for the 2022 fiscal year budget and following the hearing, the Council approved the budget with a slight decrease in the tax levy rate of less than one-cent to $17.323 per $1,000 of valuation. 

The Council then discussed housing grant programs with Region XII Council of Governments Housing Program Coordinator Karla Janning. She talked about the down payment assistance program for new homeowners. The Council will consider 3-4 projects for applications at a future meeting. Finally, the Council discussed available housing lots at Mills Park. Following the discussion, the Council decided to push forward with an engineering study on the feasibility of building new homes in that area.
