With Severe Weather Awareness Week upon us, part of that week is the statewide tornado drill.
Greene County Emergency Management Coordinator Dennis Morlan says the tornado drill will take place at 11am on Wednesday. Morlan points out during the drill all severe weather sirens in Greene County will be activated at the beginning of the drill. While the sirens are going off, Morlan encourages schools, businesses, individuals, as well as state and local governments to participate in executing their protocols for a tornado warning.
Morlan recommends following the safety guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19 during the drill.
Prior to the drill at 10:45am, all county fire departments and on-duty law enforcement will be asked to report to their spotter locations and following the drill, all spotters will be advised to “stand down.” Additionally, during the statewide tornado drill, Raccoon Valley Radio will be conducting our mock Severe Weather Action Team coverage to review how we continue to bring severe weather coverage during the spring and summer months.
