Greene County High School boys’ soccer scrimmages in Panora on the Panorama High School all-weather surface today in preparation for the April 3 season opening action in Perry vs. the Blue Jays and Des Moines North.
Head Coach Carl Behne and the Rams expect to have another strong team after qualifying for the Class 1A State Tournament in 2019. COVID-19 wiped out the 2020 season, so this is just the third boys’ soccer season for the Rams. The coach said with over 30 players out for the sport, he and assistant coach Chad Black, want to develop players not only for varsity duty, but on the JV level as well. “I”m happy we have so many JV matches on the schedule. We play a lot of larger schools, which tend to have JV teams. I’m excited about what that’s going to do long term, really setting the program up long term, not only getting them practice exposure, but getting them into some game situations throughout the year, even if they’re not ready for the varsity level.”

The coach added that getting 10 or more JV matches in this season is really going to be good for the health of the program long term.
