A physician specialist is returning to Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson.

Dr. Thomas Martin is board certified with Internal Medicine and a Gastroenterologist with the Iowa Digestive Disease Center and will be on site at the medical center the first Tuesday of the month, starting April 6th. Dr. Martin will perform colonoscopies and endoscopies. These services make up about 70-percent of the procedures and surgeries at the medical center, and Dr. Martin will also consult with local providers about patient care for gastrointestinal diseases.   

Dr. Martin previously worked at the medical center from 2016-2020. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Luther College, and then obtained his medical degree from Des Moines University in 1999. A referral from a family medicine or internal medicine provider is necessary for a colonoscopy or endoscopy.
