Today marks the start of the 2021 high school golf seasons for the Greene County teams. Josh Carlson is the coach of the girls and Heath Telleen coaches the boys. The Rams play the Carroll High teams today with the girls at The Hill east of Grand Junction and the boys at the Carroll Municipal Course.
Coach Carlson doesn’t have many girls out and ever fewer have golfing experience. Despite those challenges, the coach is ready to get started. “I love this time of year with warmer weather, getting outdoors, and getting on the golf course. We are young and inexperienced, but we do have a couple of returning letter winners, and I expect those girls, and all our players, to improve as the season goes along.”
Coach Telleen has a group that has played quite a bit of golf. “We’ve got a great group of kids and I can’t tell you enough how fun they’ve been to work with. We are going to be much improved over where we were two years ago, so I’m pretty excited!”
There were no Iowa high school Spring sports last year due to the pandemic.
