
The Perry City Council approved a lease agreement with Interstate Power and Light Company at their regular meeting Monday.
The lease agreement paves the way for Iowa’s first customer hosted solar project, which will be a 1-megawatt facility and will be built on the leased land on the western edge of Perry. The site is expected to be operational by mid-2022 and Perry will receive revenue from the site through lease payments and renewable energy credits.
Also, the Council approved the acceptance of an airport coronavirus response grant, multiple items for the relocate runway 14/32 project, approved grant applications for budgets capital expenditures, and the opposition of any phase out or reduction in the commercial and industrial property tax replacement claims.
Also, the Council approved the reappointment of a tree board member, a historic preservation commission member, two professional service agreements with Sambatek, the authorization of the sale of unused and outdated equipment and multiple City of Perry employee insurance policies.
Finally, the Council approved the support of seeking community project funding, the repeal of an ordinance and the creation of an ordinance.
