Greene County boys are playing today in an 18-hole event at the Jester Park Course hosted by Des Moines Christian. Coach Heath Telleen has a mix of experience when it comes to his players and how much golf they have played. Some have golfed for years, while others may be new to the game.
Activities Director Todd Gordon is a former golf coach and he sings the praises of the sport. “I had kids that were taking private lessons, all the way down to kids that were coming out for the first time, and we welcomed them all. The great thing about golf is that it’s such a lifetime sport. That’s what we tell our kids. If they’re not doing anything in particular in the Spring, come out for golf. You can do that for the rest of your life and you can have so many good times on a golf course as you continue to age and enjoy it.”
Gordon coached high school golf for over a decade at schools prior to arriving as A.D. at Greene County.
