For the first time the Greene County girls’ track & field team took part in the East Marshall Mustang Invite in LeGrand. Most of the teams the Rams competed against were teams they don’t normally see. Coach Derek Merk’s squad finished in a tie for seventh place in a field of 12 teams.

Thrower Brooklynn Olson had the lone first place finish for the Rams. She won the shot put with a best toss of 37′ 9-1/2″. The 4 x 100 meter relay of Olivia Shannon, Brianna Osterson, Makala Kafer, and Natalie Heupel was second in a season best time of 52.69 seconds. The same four girls were second in the 4 x 200 meter relay in 1:52.75. Olson was third in the discus throw at 108′ 9″ and Osterson placed third in the long jump with a best leap of 15′ 7-3/4″.

Thursday night was the last opportunity coaches around the state had for submitting performances for Drake Relays qualification. The list of high school qualifiers is expected to be announced today. All high school events will be held on Thursday, April 22.

Greene County hosts its Coed Ram Relays this Monday the 19th at Linduska Field in Jefferson.
