The Greene County Community Foundation recently held its 16th annual grant award event.

The non-profit organization gave away $125,000 in grant funds from Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation, which is the non-profit gaming license holder for Wild Rose Casino and Resort in Jefferson. President Don Van Gilder says of the nearly $200,000 of requests that they received, a total of 17 applications were approved.

Those that received the most funding, included Greene County Conservation Board for $30,000 to install a walking trail bridge in Paton, the Greene County Community Center received $17,780 for the 18-hole disc golf course at Daubendiek Park, $10,863 went to Jefferson Matters: A Main Street and Chamber Community for a Small Business Social Media Marketing Internship Program, and a group called Churdan 2.0 received $10,000 for restoration and beautification projects in the city.
