Greene County fell to 0-5 on the high school girls’ soccer season after losing in Urbandale Tuesday to Des Moines Christian by an 11-0 final. The victory improved the Lions to 4-1. The contest lasted just one half of play due to the 10-goal “mercy rule” where a match is stopped if one team has a margin of 10 goals or greater at halftime or later.
Coach Peyton Paddock’s team is young and inexperienced in high school soccer. The Rams have yet to score a goal this season and have allowed at least eight goals all five times they’ve payed. Only once has a Greene County match gone the scheduled 80 minutes of playing time. The Rams are coming off an stretch of three matches in five days, all away from home.
