Anyone interested in learning more about goats and how to raise them are encouraged to attend an event next month at the Dallas County Fairgrounds in Adel. The registration for the Fire Up Goat Camp and Fun Show from the Jr. Iowa Meat Goat Association closes soon.

The Fire Up Goat Camp and Fun Show with the Junior Iowa Meat Goat Association will start at 10 a.m. May 8th and includes the  opportunity to attend breakout sessions on topics including nutrition, showmanship among other things and get more hands-on experience showing goats. 

Also, there will be a show starting at 1:30 p.m. open to those 18-years-old and under and will consist of breeding does and market goats, and exhibitors do not have to participate in the camp to take part in the show. 

Camp pre-registration and show entry forms are due Sunday to Hanna Bedwell 1015 Highway 69 New Virginia, IA 50210. The cost for pre-registered youth is $20 per camper, and for adults it’s free with at least one paid youth camper, otherwise it is $20 per adult. Health certificates and papers are required.
