The Greene County Recorder’s Office is warning the public of a scam.
If someone receives a letter in the mail asking them if they want a copy of their property deed or assessment to not respond to the request. The letter states that there’s been “deed activity recorded in public record” and they should obtain a “current property grant deed and assessment.”
The company, Record Transfer Service, charges $83 for the service. However, a copy of a deed can be obtained from the Greene County Recorder’s Office for a few dollars in copying fees. Anyone with questions can contact the Recorder’s Office at 515-386-5670.
