The Lakeside Village in Panora is looking for some teens for a unique on-the-job training.

Community Director Amanda Creen tells Raccoon Valley Radio she received a Future Ready Iowa for the Summer Youth Internship Pilot Program Grant of $48,000. It is a six-week program where ten teens between the ages of 16-19 years will intern in four career paths, including management/marketing, maintenance, culinary and nursing. There are additional opportunities for the interns to do specialized certifications.

Creen talks about some financial incentives the program also includes.

“The participants will be paid $200 a week for accomplishing their 24-hours of on site education. If they arrive to work on time, dressed correctly without changing any of their shift times, they’ll get a $50 bonus. Once they completed one of the four certifications, they’ll receive a $100 bonus, and if they complete their bonus certification in either certified nursing aid, OSHA 10-hour training, or ServSafe Food Protection Manager, they’ll receive a $400 bonus.”

The program is from June 21st-July 30th. Applications are being accepted by emailing Creen at director@thelakesidevillage.com or by applying through their Facebook page.
