Greene County won the five team Southeast Valley (Gowrie) boys’ nine hole golf tournament Friday in beautiful weather at the Dayton Golf Course. Coach Heath Telleen’s Rams shot 182 to win by five strokes over Ogden at 187. Manson-Northwest Webster had 202 with 221 by SEV and Glidden-Ralston was fifth at 258.
Ram senior Sawyer Schiltz took medalist honors at 41. Freshman Jack Hansen placed third overall at 44 with freshman Nathan Behne shooting 48 and junior Joe Carey at 49.
Coach Telleen said, “This is always the toughest course we play each year. There is no room for a missed shot on many of the holes. It was looking like we might finish second until the two freshmen brought their scores into the clubhouse. It was a fun night. Not all the boys had their best night, but they were happy for each other.”
