With Teacher Appreciation Week this week, it gives an opportunity to highlight teachers and staff for what they have endured this past year.
Perry Community School District Superintendent Clark Wicks says he likes to expand this week to include district staff as well especially during the past year of the pandemic. Wicks says what teachers and staff have endured through the pandemic highlights teamwork.
“It takes a team to endure, to adapt and to move forward this year with the number of things that they’ve done. Just frankly to get through this year, and really not to just get through but to thrive, and to offer what Perry Schools has done in partnership with our community, our parents, it’s something that just really makes you proud.”
Wicks says as the school has been offering on-site and online learning, the staff have done many Zoom meetings among other virtual communications. Wicks tells Raccoon Valley Radio all of the various changes teachers and staff made.
“Just so many different protocols that needed to be met and so many different kinds of health related concerns that were met head on and so it’s just so many different things that you just can’t be just proud as punch of our whole staff.”
Wicks says he’s thankful for all of the hard work from the teachers to the staff.
