It’s National Nurses Week and these positions continue to play a critical role in healthcare, even while the COVID-19 pandemic is ongoing.

Greene County Medical Center Chief Nurse Executive Susan Moore applauds the effort the nursing staff has given all throughout having to deal with the pandemic.

“The nursing staff have been amazing. They’ve been flexible. They continue to raise to the challenges that we’re facing everyday. We get new information, we get new processes for how we have to take care of patients. It’s just been a constant barrage of issues.”

Moore says National Nurses Week is their time to shine and celebrate the excellence that makes nurses who they are in the healthcare and medical fields.

“They celebrate what it means to have the art of nursing. By that I mean, we have some element of science of course, but the way that we have the art of nursing is how we imprint ourselves onto those patients to make that difference.”

Moore says the 129 nursing staff at the medical center, includes departments such as surgery, ER, acute and long term care, pulmonary, diabetes management, cardiac, respiratory therapy, speciality and family medicine clinics, public and occupational health departments, employee health, case management, and quality management. National Nurses Week is from May 6th-12th.
