A newer bank in Jefferson will be moving to its new location within a year.
Heartland Bank officially held its groundbreaking ceremony at its new location in the Greene County Development Corporation west business park along north Highway 4 Wednesday. After first opening its doors in February of 2020 at their current location at 200 East State Street, President and CEO Kevin Black told Raccoon Valley Radio they are excited to invest in a new facility in Jefferson.
“We feel it’s important. I know there’s theories out there that maybe building new facilities is not as popular as it used to be. But we feel it’s important to be investing in the community when we go into a new community. We think that it shows commitment and that we’re here for the long haul.”
Business Development Officer Scott Weber gave his reaction to moving to the new site, after experiencing a welcoming atmosphere when they first were established in Jefferson back in February of 2020.
“I’m extremely proud. My whole crew has put in a lot of hard work, and the bank, and to have the confidence of the board of directors. I’ve said from day one this is what we are going and now to finally be able to put the shovel in the ground, I’m ecstatic to bring this to Jefferson. It’s going to be a beautiful facility. We’re excited to put our hard roots into the ground here in Jefferson and be here for a really long time.”
The anticipated completion date of the new building is one year.
