On her sixth and final throw, Paton-Churdan senior Danielle Hoyle became the Class 1A girls’ discus throw State Champion. Hoyle tossed the discus 130′ 11″ at Drake Stadium in Des Moines on Friday to become the school’s first track & field State Champion in more than 30 years. She sat in fourth place with only one attempt remaining and with that one toss, she went from fourth place to winning by more than four feet.

The three day coed championships wrap up today at Drake Stadium and the Greene County boys will have two events in the finals and the girls have one.

The Rams are the seventh fastest qualifier in the Class 2A boys’ shuttle hurdle relay final from Thursday’s preliminary with Nate Black, Jaxon Warnke, Bryce Stalder, and Jackson Morton. Morton is the sixth fastest qualifier in today’s 2A 110 meter high hurdles race at 11: 25 a.m. from Friday’s prelim.

The morning starts at 9 o’clock with the Class 2A girls’ sprint medley relay with a qualifying lineup for Greene County of Annie Twillie, Natalie Heupel, Olivia Shannon, and Katrina Heupel.

Class 2A and 3A schools compete this morning into early afternoon. The 1A and 4A schools compete from approximately 2-6 p.m.
