Greene County meets the shared West Central Valley/Nodaway Valley team in the Class 1A Substate 7 final in boys’ soccer tonight. The contest is set for a 7 p.m. start at Des Moines Christian School in Urbandale and the winner plays on June 1 in Des Moines in the quarterfinals of the State Tournament while the losing team has its season come to an end.

Some of the numbers between the two are similar. They’ve not met this season, but both are 13-6 this season and both have won five of their last 6, including their last four in a row. Neither gives up much in the way of goals and WCV/NV has recorded 10 shut outs. The Wildcats are allowing just 1.05 goals per game while scoring 3.36 per contest. They are 11-4 vs. 1A competition. Greene County is 9-1 vs. 1A teams with the one loss by a 1-0 score at the hands of 2019 State Champion Iowa City Regina. Coach Carl Behne’s team is averaging 2.15 goals for the season while allowing 1.52 goals on average.
