The Guthrie County Supervisors met Tuesday in regular session.

The Board approved a resolution to award a bridge replacement project to Cunningham-Reis of Van Meter. County Engineer Josh Sebern said the bridge is east Yale and the bid was for $821,000, which the county will use federal aid Swap funding. The project has a late start date of July 12th. Sebern then mentioned an agreement with MidAmerican Energy to install new wind turbines and the potential travel route to the sites.

The Board then approved a county held tax sale certificate to a Diamondhead Lake resident who wanted to purchase a parcel from the county and pay the $2,900 in delinquent property taxes. Following a public hearing, the Board approved an amendment to the current fiscal year budget. The adjustments dropped the overall ending fund balance from $4,755,656 to $3,933,835

Next, the Board reviewed its Moody rating, which is a system that calculates credit ratings, and the county’s rating continues to be A1, which is below the “AA” and “AAA” ratings. The Board then approved a resolution for a bond purchase agreement for general obligation refunding bonds and authorize prepayment of outstanding bonds, along with making payments to tax increment financing, a Diamondhead Sanitary District bond, and a law enforcement center bond as presented. 

Finally, the Board approved the recommendation to hire the Samuels Group to develop bid documents to replace the courthouse roof.
