The Perry Community School District is preparing to send off its seniors tomorrow, and there will be a special student honored.
A graduation ceremony will be held tomorrow starting at 2 p.m. and was moved to the Perry High School Gym due to the possibility for inclement weather. This year there will be a special student recognized at graduation.
Senior Melanie Gonzalez died in a drowning accident on May 22nd. The school plans to recognize Gonzalez with an empty chair, with her cap and gown, and diploma as well as honoring her at graduation.
With the recent law passed by Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds masks will not be required to attend the graduation and there will be no attendance limit for those wanting to come to graduation and those attending are asked to social distance as best as they can.
