Coach Tom Kennedy’s Greene County High School softball team hosted PCM (Monroe) on Wednesday night at the City diamond on E. Lincolnway and the Mustangs won the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference contest by a score of 8-1. The Rams are now 0-4, overall and 0-2 in the conference while the Mustangs are 3-2, 2-1.

The Rams had four hits including a sixth inning triple from Olivia Shannon, who scored the lone run. Kaylee Stalder, Emma Stream, and Alexa Peters each had a single. Emma Hoyle pitched for the Rams. She allowed nine hits, walked one, hit one with a pitch, and struck out five. The defense had some lapses and was charged with five errors.

Paige Steenhoek tossed a complete game for PCM and Joslin Briles homered and drove in three runs.

Greene County plays at State Center vs. West Marshall on Friday and the varsity contest can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com around 7:30 p.m.
